Anderson Award
Susan Gormley
In 1959 Robert Zeller, Conductor and Musical Director of the Grand Rapids Symphony, recommended that a Youth Orchestra be organized. With the combined efforts of Mrs. Philip Anderson, Grand Rapids Symphony Board member, and her husband, the President of Grand Rapids-South Rotary Club, and the financial support from both organizations, the Grand Rapids Youth Symphony was formed. Each year we honor the Andersons by giving this award.
