The Grand Rapids Youth Symphony will accompany the winners of the Michigan Youth Arts Festival Concerto Competition on May 10 in Kalamazoo. The concert is the culmination of the District and State Solo and Ensemble Festivals, administered by the Michigan State Band and Orchestra Association. Four winners are selected each year from tens of thousands of participants.
This concert is part of a weekend of youth arts activities May 9-11 on the campus of Western Michigan University. The gala concert begins at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 10, at Miller Auditorium on the WMU campus. The Youth Symphony’s portion of the concert, with the winning instrumental soloists, begins at 7:45 p.m. The concert is free and open to the public.
